The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center is participating in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigational program for blood centers to begin collecting and distributing convalescent plasma from individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. While COVID-19 currently has no proven treatment, it is possible that convalescent plasma, which contains antibodies to the virus that causes COVID-19, may provide passive immunity to certain patients with severe forms of the illness. Tropical Depression Eight Becoming Better Organized

Rain chances look promising for San Antonio this weekend

Tropical Depression Eight formed late Wednesday night in the Gulf of Mexico. As of Thursday afternoon, the system is slowly moving west-northwest at 7 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. This system is expected to strengthen slightly, likely gaining winds speeds of 39 mph or greater, becoming Tropical Storm Hanna. This could happen by Friday morning. The storm will then move onto the Texas coast by the weekend. Regardless of name and title, the impacts to San Antonio and the surrounding areas will be the same: a good chance at healthy rainfall!
