I’ve been a fan of the band Styx since as far back as I can remember. One of the first albums I ever purchased with my paper route money was “Paradise Theater.” I would sit in my room an play it over and over...learning every single lyric while “drumming” along on the edge of my bed. Hailing from the southside of Chicago...their midwestern roots and blue collar work ethic have contrubited to both their very personal connection with their fans, as well as their longevity as a band. It was truly my priveledge to sit down and chat with keyboardist/vocalist Lawrence Gowan ahead of their show at the Majestic Theater here in San Antonio. We talk about his memories of those first days after joining the band...driving the tour bus...spinning keyboards...his personal thoughts regarding some of his bandmates...and everything in between. Now if we can just get them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I mean...it’s only been a little more than fifty years...
