U2 Recorded Live at Red Rocks on This Day in 1983 - Joe Rock Block June 5, 2024

On this day in 1983, U2 recorded their show at Red Rocks in Colorado for what would become their concert film U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky.

The band recorded 3 shows on their War tour, Red Rocks on June 5th, in Boston on May 6th, and in Germany on August 20th. On the album release version that came out on November 21, 1983, only 2 of the songs were from the Red Rocks show, “Gloria”, and “Party Girl”.

But when the band released their concert video the next year, the show was all from the June 5th Red Rocks performance.

This live album really put the band on the map as far as a touring live entity around the world.
