According to a news release, officers encountered a commercial bus arriving from Mexico on Sunday. Investigators discovered slightly more than 80 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and more than 18 pounds of suspected heroin concealed within the 2006 Motor Coach Industries bus.

“The South Texas border is one of the most significant drug trafficking corridors along the U.S.-Mexico border,” Port Director Alberto Flores, with the Laredo Port of Entry, stated.

“CBP officers at the Laredo Port of Entry work diligently to help stop the smuggling of illicit narcotics on a daily basis, as this enforcement action clearly illustrates,” he added.

According to the agency, the estimated street value of the heroin and meth totaled nearly $2.1 million.

Officers seized both the drugs and the bus, while Homeland Security Investigations special agents investigate.
