On Friday, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to a house on Green Springs Road in Frederick County, Virginia, about an 1800 pound draft horse that had fallen into a swimming pool.

Once at the scene, deputies determined the horse had knocked over the top rail of the fence around the pool, jumped the fence and then walked on to the nylon pool cover. The horse then fell into the water but its head and part of its body remained above water, according to FCSO.

Deputies began to cut the pool cover and were able to pull the horse to the shallow end of the pool where they helped guide the horse up the pool steps onto the deck and back into the yard, according to WHSV.

A local veterinarian who treats the horse was called out to check on it. They advised that the horse needs to be dried as good as possible, be given some hay to eat and for it to keep moving, according to FCSO.

As of Friday afternoon, the horse was doing well, according to WHSV.
